Marina launches boat buyers' program

Bridgewater Marina & Boat Rentals recently launched a program that will offer used boats and personal watercraft for sale.

Roy Enslow, a partner in the business, compared the program to ones used by car rental companies where older vehicles are sold to make way for newer ones.

“We’ve found our rental customers really want top-of-the-line watercraft, so our plan is to start replacing the boats in our fleet every two years,” Enslow said.

“This provides an outstanding opportunity for individuals, dealers and entrepreneurs to purchase well-maintained vessels that are 1 to 2 years old at considerably reduced prices.”

The marina currently has 13 watercraft for sale. In mid-September, approximately 80 additional vessels will be available, including pontoons, tritoons, wakeboard boats, ski boats, deck boats and personal watercraft.

Prospective buyers may put their names on a waiting list, and will be notified by email when the September sale opens.

“We’ll basically start at the top and that person will have his or her pick of boats, and then we’ll continue down the list,” said Ryan Waters, Bridgewater Marina partner. “We’ll do our due diligence so we’ll know what the boat is worth and then price it well below that.”

Enslow emphasized that all of the vessels will have scheduled maintenance and safety checks performed before the sale. Service records will be available and the vessels will be available to test drive.

Details on each vessel, including options and pricing, will be available at, Waters said. Each will have approximately 180 to 200 hours on them.

“These are all well-maintained boats. Anything that may have been an issue will have been identified and fixed,” Waters said.

“They have had all of the scheduled maintenance performed and have been properly broken in, which is key when you purchase a new boat.”
