Deputy John Lavinder

Deputy John Lavinder was recently presented an award from Franklin County Sheriff Bill Overton.

WoodmenLife and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office recently recognized Deputy John Lavinder for his commitment to the community for the month of March.

For 29 years, Lavinder has been a K9 blood hound handler for our Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Lavinder is also a highly sought after instructor on the East Coast and has been to Brazil several times to train officers how to work with bloodhounds to locate someone.

“Its hard work but so rewarding to be able to help locate an elderly person, a lost child or help solve a case”, Lavinder said.
